The Kangaroo Route — London to Sydney — is one of the most iconic in aviation. Qantas has operated it for decades, and their current business class product on the 787-9 represents a significant upgrade from what went before. We flew the full journey to give you an honest assessment.
The 787 Business Suite
Qantas’ Business Suite on the Dreamliner features fully flat beds in a 1-2-1 configuration. All seats have direct aisle access. The bed is 80 inches long — genuinely comfortable for tall passengers. The privacy shell is good, creating a cocoon-like feel.
The Food
Qantas has consistently invested in food quality. The business class menu reflects Australian produce and culinary culture — excellent seafood, quality wines from Australian and New Zealand producers. Breakfast before landing in Sydney is particularly good.
The Service
Australian cabin crew bring a warmth and informality that feels genuinely refreshing after the more formal European carriers. Professional without being stiff.
The Verdict
Excellent. Not the newest product in the sky, but everything works well and the overall experience is very high quality. Fares from £2,954 return. Call 0203 745 5786.
