The Gulf carriers have defined premium long-haul travel for two decades. Emirates and Etihad both offer world-class business class products, but they’ve diverged significantly in recent years. Which one is actually worth booking in 2025?
Emirates Business Class
Emirates’ business class remains one of the most consistent products in the sky. Fully flat beds, direct aisle access on the 777, a massive IFE screen, and on-demand dining make it hard to fault. The mini-bar keeps drinks accessible throughout the flight.
Etihad Business Studio
Etihad’s Business Studio is a genuinely excellent product — perhaps underrated. The seat is wider than Emirates on comparable aircraft, the food quality is exceptional, and the service is notably more personalised. The Haifa lounge in Abu Dhabi is one of the best airport lounges in the world.
The Verdict
For consistency and network scale, Emirates wins. For the actual in-flight experience, Etihad edges it — but Abu Dhabi isn’t as convenient a hub as Dubai for most UK travellers. Current fares: Emirates from £899 return, Etihad from £849. Call 0203 745 5786 for both options.
